About this remodel

This Keller bathroom had a standard alcove tub, white square wall tile, a plastic-style surround, and a tan tile floor. It was clean and functional, but the shower was tight, the tile was dated, and nothing about the room felt updated. We removed the tub and built a full walk-in shower in its place. The walls are covered in large-format, wood-look tile in warm beige, laid in a running pattern. A band of diamond-pattern mosaic runs around the shower at eye level and matches the mosaic floor, adding detail without making the room busy. A recessed niche and a corner shelf give you places to keep products off the floor. A frameless sliding glass door on a brushed nickel rail closes the shower without swinging into the room. The brushed nickel finish carries through to the door pull, the shower valve, the rain shower head, and the handheld sprayer. New floor tile and recessed lighting finish the room in a warm, neutral palette.

Result

The finished bathroom feels larger, warmer, and easier to use. The walk-in shower is easier to step into than a tub, and the sliding door keeps the doorway clear. The large tiles have fewer grout lines to clean, and the diamond band adds a classic detail that suits the soft beige tones. The overall look is calm and timeless rather than trendy.
